Project Overview
This apartment renovation embraces the principles of Scandinavian design—simplicity, functionality, and a deep appreciation for natural light and materials. The 95-square-meter space was completely reimagined to create a calm, harmonious home for a young professional couple.
Design Concept
The design concept centers on the Scandinavian philosophy of hygge—creating a sense of comfort, contentment, and well-being through thoughtful design choices.
Key Principles
- Light Maximization: The layout was reconfigured to allow natural light to penetrate deep into the apartment, with strategic mirror placements and a predominantly white color scheme.
- Functional Beauty: Every piece serves a purpose while contributing to the overall aesthetic. Storage is abundant but hidden, maintaining clean sight lines.
- Natural Materials: Warm oak flooring, linen textiles, and ceramic accents bring texture and warmth to the neutral palette.
- Curated Simplicity: Rather than minimalism for its own sake, the design embraces meaningful objects and artworks that tell a story.
Space Planning
The original layout featured several small, disconnected rooms. The renovation opened up the living spaces while maintaining privacy for bedrooms and bathrooms.
Living Area
The combined kitchen, dining, and living area forms the heart of the home. A peninsula kitchen provides workspace and informal seating while maintaining connection to the living space. Custom joinery along one wall incorporates storage, display shelving, and the entertainment system.
Bedroom Suite
The master bedroom features a walk-through closet leading to an ensuite bathroom, creating a logical flow for daily routines. Both spaces maintain the calm, cohesive aesthetic of the main living areas.

The Result
